The Watson Lake Hotel is a rustic log building which was built in 1942 during the construction of the Alaska Highway. During this period, Watson Lake was the major service and supply centre for game outfitters and military personnel working on the highway project.
The Watson Lake Hotel was exemplary of true Northern Hospitality as it was known as a place where work-weary souls could enjoy a hearty home cooked meal, a decent room and good company in a hospitable atmosphere.
Throughout the years, the Watson Lake Hotel has had continuous renovations and restorations however it remains Watson Lake's Heritage Hotel with its' old-fashioned charm and remnants of an era past. The log walls of the main building are adorned with photographs of the time period in which the hotel was built and photographs from special events and celebrations throughout the years.
